Our school

JTCares is for teens who want to "give something back" to the community and who have a desire to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Incorporating their energy and interest, JTCares combines teens’ intellectual curiosity with volunteer projects. The program allows Jewish teens to develop and apply knowledge and skill to real problems within the community, which will serve as their classroom. JTCares raises awareness of social justice and fosters civic responsibility.

Connect Through Service Learning.

For three hours on 7 different Sundays throughout the year, teens will eat, learn, and together make a difference for others. These sessions will be interconnected, yet independent, allowing teens to engage in as many programs as desired, depending on their schedules and interests. During the first hour, teens will have the opportunity to study together and learn from teen educators who are experts on the topic of the day. Using traditional and modern text, they will gain a Jewish perspective on modern issues such as hunger, homelessness, LGBTQ Issues and Israel. Hours 2 and 3 teens will put learning into action by working directly with people or communities in need, or serving indirectly by volunteering for community organizations. In sharing these experiences, teens will come together to create a community of young adults who care about the world around them and who actively take part in the mitzvah of Tikkun Olam - Repairing the World.
Cost: $120 for the year (7 sessions) or $20 per session.
*Financial Assistance is available*
