Outgoing Executive Director
Eric Maurer joined JTConnect in 2016 with an aspiration to connect more teens to experiences to explore, deepen and celebrate their Judaism. Under his leadership JTConnect has expanded its impact in the community, growing participation and diversifying program offerings. A graduate of the University of Hartford, Eric holds dual Master’s degrees from Brandeis University’s Hornstein Program in Jewish Professional Leadership and Near Eastern & Judaic Studies. Committed to giving back and building Jewish community, Eric serves as a Trustee on the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford Board of Trustees, is the volunteer advisor to the Alpha Epsilon Pi Jewish Fraternity at the University of Hartford and is a founding steering committee member of the Jewish Community Foundation’s JewGood Hartford: Young Professionals Connecting through Philanthropy. Eric lives in West Hartford with his wife Becca and sons Amichai and Matan.
Founding JTConnect President
Under Mel Simon’s leadership as President, JTConnect was envisioned and founded through a transformation of Yachad: Greater Hartford Community High School. Mel is a lifelong leader in the Jewish community, serving as President at both the Emanuel Synagogue and the Mandell JCC and on the Boards of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford. Mel is a practicing commercial litigator with Cohn Birnbaum & Shea representing financial institutions, real estate holding companies and closely held businesses in dispute resolution. Mel Simon is the father of three daughters.
